Portland State University is a large, urban university that recently made the switch to Drupal. Although relative newcomers to the world’s #1 open source content management system, the people at PSU are mastering Drupal’s multi-site capabilities to syndicate content, manage their brand and give their departments flexibility and creativity. Before Drupal, PSU managed 52 sites. That number has now increased to 190+ and continues to grow, with each new site taking only minutes to deploy.
ImageX Media a Vancouver web development firm partnered with PSU to create a template system that allows them to have hundreds of sites that retain branding guidelines but allow the departments significant flexibility.
Drupal for higher education just makes sense. The goal was to make their system a shining example of Drupal done right – an example other universities will be sure to follow.
