Challenge
With nearly 46 million Americans living without health insurance, including 9 million children, the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation needed an improved site to highlight the problem and demand solutions from our nation's leaders. The existing site featured a dated design, confusing navigation, and limited capabilities for enrollment events in its communities. In addition, the site needed a modern content management system.
Forum One Solution
Forum One helped the Foundation refine its site's objectives and audiences. This led to the development of an improved information architecture and a fresh creative design. Usability testing improved upon the team's design assumptions and refined the user experience.
The finished site was launched at www.covertheinsured.org.
Forum One developed the new site using the Drupal open source content management system. The solution features sophisticated user management and back-end sharing of content to and from the Foundation's family of web sites.
The site also provides opportunities to get involved and resources for reformers and health care professionals. It includes tools for publicizing community activities such as health fairs and enrollment events. The site allows event planners to add their own events to the site and plot the locations on a Google Map.
The site also features a shopping cart interface for ordering materials including posters, bookmarks and flyers in English and Spanish.
