If anybody interested: I made a Country List taxonomy vocabulary for drupalsites.net. Which is reusable of course. It is exported via taxonomy_xml module. So you can easily import it to your project with the same module.
NOTE: somehow it hung and did not import the taxonomy if I tried to import vocabluary to an existig one. But I'd recommend to import it to "determined by source file". The process will create a new vocabulary called 'Countries'.
Enjoy!

Thanks a lot. Very useful!
thanks.
Thanks a mill :)
Thanks
Does it support localization?
It's English only. But it's up to you if you'll translate the list to any other language.

Just what i was looking for. Saves me couple of hours of work building my own taxonomy from scratch.
Thanks
I wish you did put Turkey into Europe instead of Asia ...
As far as I remember this taxonomy was created from some ISO list of countries. So I just tried to be close to some "approved" standards.

Sorry, but culturally Turkey belongs to Asia...
the Taxonomy XML import module doesn't work (it gives an error and has a known bug).
Can someone tell how he/she imported it?
Thanks for the solution its really helpful.
But the taxonomy that we achieve through this is flat.I mean I want a taxonomy to be imported along with its hierarchy.
How is that possible with Xml import module.
Kindly help.
Thanks!!
The D6-dev version of taxonomy_xml has been fixed up to work with existing vocabs like it was supposed to.
This file seems to go fine, thanks for that.
There's no heirarchy at all in the source file, so I don't really see how Turkey is 'in' or out of Europe at all ??
Hmm where is the actual download link?
Ouch. Sorry... download link fixed now.

woohoo!! thanx for that!
Does this import work in Drupal 6? Importing the XML give an error about module.inc line 462
Very appreciated!

Thanks, this was harder to find than I would have thought.
Nice list,
although it is a bit old I was looking for something like this that I can use on my new Disneyland Paris Drupal Project. So far I have some good design ideas but still work on finalizing them
