Cork based group Perfidia offer a new and refreshing musical menu to tingle your musical taste-buds and put your feet tapping to their enchanting rhythms. They draw their inspiration from many sources including the Great American Jazz Songbook of the twenties, thirties, and forties, and breathe new life into the unsurpassed melodies of Cole Porter, Berlin, Gershwin, and their contemporaries. All the old favourites are there: Cheek to Cheek, All of Me, As Time Goes By, Sweet Sue, Lady Be Good. The 'old continent' of Europe is not neglected and the red hot tunes of Django Rheinhardt and the Quintet du Hot Club de France such as Nuages, Swing42, and Minor Swing take their place alongside other great chansons such as La Mer, Les Feuilles Mortes, and la Vie en Rose. The sparkling rhythms of Latin America enliven the cocktail further with great tangos such as Por Una Cabeza, el Choclo and who could forget the Girl from Ipanema.

Joe leads the way on his gypsy violin. His versatility, vibrancy and ability to improvise never fail to impress. Equally astounding on Gypsy Jazz guitar is the amazing Mo whose dazzling technique is only matched by the breadth of his repertoire. Mo also handles most of the vocal duties and is suspected of knowing every song that was ever written! Martin is the pianist in the group, occasionally doubling on accordion. His playing is inflected with a warm bluesy tone which adds a magic touch to the proceedings. All this could only be rounded off by the only instrument capable of delivering that authentic bass sound - the double bass. Paul lays down the basic rhythmic beat with the bull fiddle but still manages to contribute on the vocals as well.

Perfidia are uniquely suited for hotels, large house parties or any venue where a little sophistication is appreciated. And while they can play up a storm if required, ear-drum perforation is never part of the programme.
